Soopermexican reported earlier that “ICE official Gary Mead announced he would resign – he’s the head of the illegal alien detainment program….” Yes, the man the AP calls “the Homeland Security Department official in charge of the agency’s immigration enforcement and removal operations.”
Well, Sooper has updated the story, via The Blaze, which is “reporting that ICE denies his resignation had anything to do with the illegal alien releases – hours after the White House got nailed on it? Really?”
The Blaze posted this updated statement from ICE spokeswoman Gillian Christensen:
“The Associated Press’ report is inaccurate and misleading. U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations Gary Mead announced several weeks ago to ICE senior leadership that he planned to retire after 40 years in federal service and 6 years at ICE. As planned, and as shared with ICE staff weeks ago, Mr. Mead will retire at the end of April.”
As far as I can see, no paperwork’s being offered to back that statement up. We should just take their word for it, right?
